Nevada is most renown for its great gambling and entertainment center in the city of Las Vegas. That vibrant metropolis of the desert, sometimes called Sin City USA, is one of the fastest growing communities in the USA and is the most popular vacation destination for travelers from other US states as well as from all over the world. Most of this state is covered with rugged barren mountain ranges and flat arid desert valleys. The scenery is stark and beautiful. Reno, the little Las Vegas of northern Nevada is situated in the high mountains near beautiful lakes.

Florida is best known as the home of Disney World, the largest family oriented theme park in the world. In fact, Orlando Florida is the center of the largest collection of family entertainment attractions in the world with multiple theme parks, water parks, tourist attractions, museums, thrill rides, shopping malls, and entertainment venues all clustered in the southern environs of the city. The state has over a thousand miles of beautiful sand-covered beaches and a semi-tropical environment that offers pleasant weather nearly year round. Miami is a beautiful city renown for its central American and Carribean influenced culture.

New York State is best known for its grand east coast metropolis of New York City. This is the home of Broadway theater, the grand museums and art galleries, numerous shops and stores, and thousands of restaurants and cafes. It is a favorite vacation and business destination for travelers from all over the world. The state also offers a vast countryside of scenic farmlands, rivers, low mountains and villages. About 400 miles (600 km) northwest of New York City along the Canadian border lies the spectacular Niagara Falls.

California, the land of sunshine, lies on the West Coast of the USA. It is famous for its Pacific Ocean coastline which provides sandy beaches and surfing in the southern parts of the state, and displays rugged rocky headlands, cliffs and scenic bays further north. Fertile valleys filled with farms, orchards and vineyards lie in close proximity to the coast with a high mountain range of the Sierra Nevadas not far beyond. Los Angeles is the great metropolis along the southern coast, while scenic San Francisco lies 400 miles (600 km) north near the central coast of the state.

Arizona is the land of the Grand Canyon, of the red rocks of Sedona, of the great deserts near Phoenix and Tucson. It is a land of spectacular scenery and a wide variety of geological diversity. It offers everything from low desert country with giant suguaro cactus to high snowcapped mountains covered in great evergreen forests and spectacularly eroded canyons of multicolored rock formations. Nearly one forth of the state belongs to the Navajo Indian Nation and other Native American tribes. For a taste of the Old West and the land of the cowboys and Indians, Arizona is the place to visit.

Washington state is a great scenic gem on the Northwest Coast of the USA. It has a rugged coastline with many inlets, bays and islands all lying near rugged mountain ranges and snow-capped volcanic peaks. Washington has temperate rain forests and vast wilderness areas filled with lofty trees and raging streams. Inland the state offers a rain-shadow desert and extensive fields of grain. This is a favorite destination for campers, hikers, backpackers, hunters, sports fishermen, kayakers, and lovers of unspoiled wilderness. Seattle, its most renown city, is situated on hills overlooking a beautiful inland bay and two lakes. It is the home of many famous corporations like Microsoft, Adobe and Amazon.

Utah is a southwestern state that offers a grand array of scenic attractions. The southern part of the state is often called the "canyonlands" or the "color country". Many beautiful and exotic geological features have been carved out of the multicolored rocks by erosion. This is the land of Monument Valley, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Arches, Natural Bridges, the white cliffs, the black rocks, the vermillion cliffs and beautiful features too numerous to mention. The northern part of the state offers the Great Salt Lake and the high mountain ski country.

Texas is the largest of the "lower 48" states. It offers a diversity of scenery from the wetlands and meadows of the eastern coast and the beautiful farming and grazing lands of the hill country to the flat arid plains of the West Texas praries. This is the land of the cowboys where vast herds of Texas Longhorn cattle used to freely roam its limitless grasslands until they were "rounded up" and moved to the far northern rail terminals in grand cattle drives. San Antonio is a beautiful city with a definite hispanic cultural heritage. Houston is a large modern city as is the metropolitan area of Dallas and Fort Worth. Austin is a center for all sorts of music but especially country western music.

The Hawaiian Islands are located in the center of the Pacific Ocean nearly 2,400 miles (4.000 km) southwest of California. They are a group of six major islands that all feature a very pleasant tropical climate with year-round wonderful weather. Hawaii is famous for its wonderful sandy beaches with warm waters and its great Hawaiian surf. This tropical paradise offers more than just swimming and surfing. It has great scenic beauty from its magificent jungles with spectacular waterfalls to its volcanic parks and its sugar, coffee and pinapple plantations.

Alaska is the largest and one of the most beautiful states in the USA. With over 600,000 Sq mi. (1.500.000 sq km) it is larger than most countries. It has over 33,000 mi. (50.000 km.) of shoreline and 1,500 islands. It is a favorite destination for hunters and fishermen as well as wilderness seeking hikers and explorers. This immense land offers everything from lofty mountain ranges and glaciers to temperate rainforests and arctic tundra. Many cruise lines departing from Seattle Washington and from Vancouver Canada tour its rugged and beautiful shores.
