Florida Vacation Home Rentals

We went to Orlando Florida last month and visited Disney World with our grandchildren. I have been there many times before and have stayed at hotels on the Disney property as well as at hotels off the property. This was the first time I used a vacation rental. It was great!

Many rentals come with private swimming pools

We rented a four-bedroom house about ten minutes’ drive from Disney World and about 30 minutes’ drive from Universal Studios. It was tastefully decorated, had a fully equipped kitchen, and had a large-screen Television in the living room and flat-panel TVs in each bedroom. It had a screened patio complete with swimming pool and hot tub. The house was equipped with bath linens, washer and dryer, pool table, children’s games and pool toys.

Cheaper than hotel rooms

The rental price was equivalent to one room at a medium-priced Disney hotel or two bedrooms at an inexpensive off-Disney hotel. With an extended family of seven, hotel accommodations would have cost us at least 300% more and we would have been much more cramped for space.

We awoke every morning and fixed ourselves a quick breakfast or went to a local restaurant or fast food establishments for a ready-made breakfast, then drove ten minutes to one of the Disney attractions. After a tiring day of enjoying the rides and attractions, we often chose to visit one of the neighborhood restaurants for dinner. Afterward, we typically spent a relaxing evening in our private swimming pool or in our hot tub. It was a great way to enjoy a family Disney World vacation.

Location of rentals near Disney World

Interstate Route 4 is the major highway that extends across the Florida Peninsula in a northeast to southwest direction from Daytona, on the East Coast, through Orlando, and on to Tampa, on the West Coast. Disney World is located along I-4 about 20 miles south of downtown Orlando. Universal Studios is located along the same route about ten miles south of downtown. Route 192 crosses I-4 in an east-west direction from the town of Kissimmee, past the entrances to the Disney World Parks. Due to its proximity to Disney World, It is heavily lined with hotels, motels, restaurants, souvenir shops, shopping centers and minor attractions.

The area around Kissimmee and adjacent to route 192 is also populated with many vacation resorts and housing plans. There are many vacation rentals to be found in this area. Below are a few reputable vacation rental companies.  You can visit their sites for photos,  property descriptions, amenities and rental rates.
