Locations of hotel concentrations

The area surrounding Tucson International Airport area has many hotel options. South Tucson Boulevard is the main entrance and exit to the airport is where you will find several affordable hotels. A few cost as little as $70 but most the hotels along this stir cost $100 and up.

Most lodging options on South Freeway, along Interstate-10 (I-10) the only main highway through town, are inexpensive motels. Other options are found on the east side of town on the main streets of Broadway and Speedway or the northwest sections along Oracle Road. There are also many decent hotels and motels concentrated near the University of Arizona. Downtown Tucson also had a concentration of hotels and there are several inexpensive motels along Stone Avenue, north of downtown.

The upscale resorts are found in north Tucson, near the Catalina Mountains, or on the outskirts of the city.

Types of accommodations

Tucson's resorts offer some of the best golf courses in the city, full service spas, and casual and upscale dining.

There are several guest ranches, also called dude ranches, in Tucson and the surrounding areas. Some guest ranches are family friendly and all inclusive, but not all. Several bed and breakfast inns are found in central Tucson, near the University of Arizona.

The Williamson Center on Broadway in east Tucson is surrounded by many hotels geared toward professional business people but these hotels are less expensive than the resorts.

Bargain hunters will really feel they received a good deal if they visit Tucson during the summer months. The rest of the year the downtown area, along I-10 and the east side of town offer the most competitive rates.

The closest town Tucson has for alternatives lodging options is actually an extension of Tucson north of the city called Oro Valley. There is one nice golf resort and a few chain hotels. It is a very nice area.

Budget Accommodations

The Roadrunner Hostel and Inn is Tucson’s only hostel. It is located on the corner of 3rd Ave. and 12th St. This hostel offers a free waffle breakfast and other amenities such as free Internet service and parking.


Tucson has numerous campgrounds with many catering to Road Vehicles (RVs). The traditional campgrounds average $10 a night and the RV parks start around $25 a day.

Sheraton Tucson Hotel
Located at the base of the Catalina Foothills, Sheraton Tucson Hotel and Suites boasts great views of Tucson's rugged, surrounding mountain range. Just 12 minutes from downtown Tucson, Sheraton Tucson Hotel and Suites puts you close to the heart of Tucson.
Hilton Tucson
A luxury destination resort, the Hilton El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort is set into the breathtaking Catalina Mountain range in Tucson. The beauty of its pristine natural canyon views and lush desert surroundings inspires this luxury full-service resort. Boasting world-class golf facilities, tournaments and golf academy.
La Quinta Inn
The property's amenities include complimentary continental breakfast and outdoor pool and spa.
Embassy Suites
Set in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains, Embassy Suites is approximately 20 minutes from downtown Tucson, Tucson Convention Center, Randolph Municipal Golf Course and Catalina Sate Park. The University of Arizona is about 15 minutes from the hotel. A 45-minute drive takes guests to some must-see places including Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Mission San Xavier and Old Tucson Studios. Tucson International Airport is 14 miles.
The LaPosada Lodge and Casitas
The La Posada Lodge and Casitas is situated in Northwest Tucson at the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains and approximately 15 miles from Tucson International Airport. Guests may also enjoy the fully equipped exercise room and the Bella Serena Day Spa.
Radisson Suites Tucson Airport
The hotel has a landscaped courtyard with fountains and an open-air patio bar and grill where guests can dine al fresco. There is also a full-service business center, concierge services, heated outdoor pool with poolside meal/beverage service, hot tub and fitness center. A guest laundry, room service and a recreation room are provided for further convenience. Parking and a shuttle service within a three-mile radius of the property are on the house.
Windmill Suites
The Homewood Suites St Philips Plaza is located at the northern edge of Tucson in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The hotel rooms are equipped with amenities like air conditioning, cable TV, telephones, irons/ironing boards, bar, microwave, refrigerators, coffee/tea making facilities, clock radios, internet access, and hairdryers.
